Abstract

Italy is coming to a new social and economic age. The trend is towards economy based on the advanced industries and tertiary activities. The great actual and future transformations ask for a particularly attention to the problems of the land. The Geomorphological Map of Italy should be the principal instrument for a correct land use and an environmental protection. The scientific and technical resources and managerial capacity of the Physical Geography and Geomorphology national community are adequate and ready for the accomplishment of so high an enterprise.
