Tendenze evolutive della temperatura e delle piogge in Italia negli ultimi cento anni con osservazioni su una serie storica di precipitazioni nevose
Hundred year trends of temperature and precipitation in Italy with observations on a historical series of snow precipitation

An overview of one-hundred year trends of mean monthly temperature and precipitation in Italy, drawn from analysis of the Mann Kendall test after the application of Thom’s homogeneity test, is presented. Climate fluctuation signals characterized by November increasing temperatures appear in most Italian stations, while in the Southern of Italy and in Sardinia and Sicily a definite decrease in precipitation is experienced. The temperature-cloud cover relationship is taken into consideration showing that there are sequences of years characterized by a gradual decrease in November cloudiness. A comparison of trends with the regional output of climate simulation models (corresponding to a doubling of CO: concentration in the atmosphere) is shown. Finally, the historical series of snow precipitation at Sestola (Modenese Appennine) is analysed, and trends of this quantity are interpreted in terms of frequency fluctuations of synoptical meteorological fields.
