Abstract

The Lombardy yearly thermal regime has been examined carefully by using the average monthly temperatures of 113 meteorological stations, which worked continuously in the period 1955-1984. The data have been processed in order to compare, by means of the Keller's (1947) diagram method, the thermal regime of the first half of the year with that one of the second half. Then, by comparing the hottest months of the two years' halves, five «fundamental» climate types in Lombardy have been identified. Finally, for four meteorological stations located in Lombardy, the thermal range, between the average temperature of July and January, during the period 1926-1955 and 1955-1984 and their climate types have been compared, observing a transition to a less strong continental climate.
