The Vedretta Pendente-Hangenderferner (Stubai Alps, Sud Tyrol, Italy) mass balance measurements in the three year period from 1995/96 to 1997/98

Mass balance, Direct method, Vedretta Pendente, Central AlpsAbstract
After three years since the beginning of the mass balance measurements on the Vedretta Pendente-Hangenderferner, some considerations may be drawn. By confirming the retreating phase undergone by this glacier as well, the bn/ELA relations of both the Vedretta Pendente and other neighboring glaciers have been examined. The average thickness of ice melted during the three-year period has been evaluated at about 5 m on the tongue, and its elevation gradient value resulted consistent with the other alpine glacier ones.
