Abstract

Most of the largest and best-known karst forms in non-tropical climates are bound to fitho-hydrologic contacts. The essay presents some evidence for their genetic linkage to horizontal and vertical contacts. At the same time, it explains the conception of contact karst and its main types as a result of selected modifiers.
