Since more than a hundred years, glaciers of the Dolomitic Group of Brenta, in the Rhaetian Alps (Western Trentino) are under control and careful study. This task has been carried out by several researchers, mostly of the Italian Glaciologic Committee, Climatic variations in the last century have had a sensible effect on this mountain group’s glaciers, so that its total surface has changed from 464 ha (hectars) at the end of XIX century to 180 ha in 1994. Research activity done by Trento Cai-Sat since 1989, has allowed location and measuring of today's glaciers, in addition to an historic reconstruction and a comparison with the situation in different periods of glacial census.
