Valutazione dei parametri dinamici del Ghiacciaio Strandline (Baia Terra Nova, Antartide)
Evaluation of the dynamic parameters of the Strandline Glacier (Terra Nova Bay, Antarctica)
Keywords:
Glacier, Mass balance, Terra Nova Bay, AntarcticaAbstract
During the expeditions of the Italian Antarctic Research Program in the period 1986/87 to 1990/91, measurements of the dynamic parameters have been carried out on the Strandline Glacier. It is a small cold local glacier that flows very slowly (up to 3 m/yr). Its frontal ice cliff is stable or locally in small retreat. The mass balance is in slight deficit (between about —8,000 to —13,000 m3/yr w.e.).
