Geomorphology and slope instability of the Sassolungo Group (Western Dolomites)

Abstract

This paper shows the results of a detailed geomorphological research carried out in the Sassolungo Group (western Dolomites, Italy), one of the most famous and spectacular groups in the Dolomites, with highly developed tourism. After bibliographic investigations, the core of the research consisted of a detailed geomorphological field survey, coupled by the interpretation of multitemporal aerial photographs. The research enabled the analysis of the morphological features of the area and the reconstruction of its geomorphological evolution.
